I live in a small apartment and don't have space to shoot video. I Got permission from my Synagogue to use a large party room on Firday for 4 hours.
I don't have a DSLR as the moment but will be shooting with a Nikon COOLPIX P600. It does not have an external mic jack and I am concerned about the sound quality so I will be using my Android phone with WavePad free app and a Lavalier Microphone with a 20ft cord I can plug into my phone. I read your supposed to make a loud clap at the beginning to help sync to sound with the video.
If I have time I may make a cheap teleprompter with a cheap Picture frame. There are many versions of this online.
Please tell me if I have the right setup. Point me out to any sites that you would suggest I look at for advice. What is trhe best way to arrange the lights?
Should the existing lights in the room be on or off?
Thank you for all of your help.

I first started by painting a light cardboard green that I can easily carry from one room to another in my house with home made lighting and they work fine so the equipment that you bought is okay. You can search film making, studio lighting or any related keywords on Tutsplus. There are also endless video tutorials on Youtube. I also included a list of great websites and resources for film making under "Film Making" at videographersworld.freeforums.net/thread/2/
You're welcome. When shooting indoors, you need light as much as possible. There are times that I turn on and off the existing lights in the room. There are times that I use the light that comes from a lamp because it adds good effect in the background. It will really depend on what you want to capture. The video tutorials on Tutsplus, youtube and others will teach you how to adjust the lighting according to your needs.
