Hi,
I would like to learn to make some simple marketing videos for Local SEO. Will use photos, videos, with I think it's called Ken Burns effect (pan and zoom), text layer sliding/appearing on top of slides and voice over and/or music.
I have the latest Camtasia. Is it capable of doing something like this type of video is there something more suitable that I should use? I can hunker down and learn Camtasia if it is capable of doing this, I just don't want to waste my time if I should be using something else.
I would really appreciate feedback!
Thanks!

Yes, you can do the basics in Camtasia. But I recommend to use Sony Vegas Movie Studio or the more advanced version Sony Vegas Pro. And for composition and motion effects, use Adobe After Effects. My Udemy course will give you a basic understanding on how to use Vegas.

A follow-up question. I have Sony Vegas Pro installed and am in the learning process. Are there such things as Sony Vegas Pro project templates? As in marketing type videos that are already done that I can edit and customize to my needs? Pretty basic stuff I want but right now I'm bogged down. I want photo with Ken Burns effect with Text overlay, video clip the same thing. Some text boxes/shapes with some effects added. Transitions between slides/frames, opening logo with some kind of effect.
I know this is a vague request, but I learn much better by tearing things apart. Learned to code in same way and work with Photoshop in same way. I am not a creative type and it would be much easier to work on something preexisting vs looking at a blank screen in front of me. Do templates exist for Sony Vegas Pro?
Thanks!

Hi marks. Unfortunately, I don't know of any ready-made templates for Vegas other than intro effects. Adobe After Effects creates better intro effects than Vegas. But you can use Animoto to automatically add effects to your footage. That's the fastest way that I know of. And you can also add more effects like text animation similar to my Udemy course by editing your animoto video in Vegas.

May I know why Sony Vegas Pro is recommended? What exactly can Vegas do that other software can't? The reason I"m asking is because I already have Adobe Premier, can both be substituted? Thanks!

I am not saying that I recommend Vegas Pro over Vegas Movie Studio. I am just saying that Vegas Pro is more advance than Vegas Movie Studio. I am using Vegas Movie Studio on Fiverr. There are some features in Vegas Pro that are not found in Vegas Movie Studio but you can still produce similar effects using different ways so it really depends on how familiar and skillful you are in either of the two. Adobe Premier is better than Vegas Pro especially for advanced users. But even these two are almost parallel to each other.
