Hello Awesome videographers!
Don't you just LOVE this community? I am a new member on the forum and I'm dazzled by the information on here. It gets my head spinning and my heart pumping, because I feel I'll finally be able to start the You are legend project. This project is about you, your friends, your partner, your life, you dreams.
What am I talking about?
Well...we all love stories. We all love having VIP access to get a behind the scenes sneak peek of people's life. We are addicted to real life soap operas.
And...
Don't we all dream about movies they wont make of us when we're dead? ( yes, I stole that line from a Bon Jovi song)
And...
Aren't we looking for that silverlining when life knocks us down?
Now, imagine a video telling YOUR story. A video that is basically a tribute to your life. A tribute to your relationship, your accomplishments...
Storytelling videos are...
Motivating
Inspiring
Humbling
Uplifting
and not to mention a unique personalized gift.
No longer do you need to be a hollywood star in order to be featured in a captivating short movie.
You already are LEGEND!
It's time to get the word out!
Now...
This is MY project, so naturally I'm excited about it. In fact, it would be a dream come true. I have been a copywriter for a year and I'm confident enough to say I know how to tell a story and engage with an audience.
But...
What do you think? I would love to hear from you,
Natasja
P.S. Obviously I'm enthusiastic and sharing this post in good faith. I expect everyone to chase their own dreams and not steal mine. I would love for you to share some tips and/or advice to help me get started on my new and exciting journey.

I admire how you aspire to live your own dream because it boosts my confidence too. I assume that you are going to shoot your own videos and then edit them to add beautiful effects. Whether you are going to use a $200 or $10,000 camera would not matter that much as long as you are creative in post-production. Adobe After Effects, Sony Vegas, and others are great tools for these types of projects. You can easily edit AE templates such as intros, outros, logos, lower thirds, etc. Watch other people's work on Youtube or if a video or tv ad catches your attention, try to imitate them. Do not over complicate your work, just do your best. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Hey Natasja, Yours is an awesome idea that I haven't seen done by anyone yet. Your great challenge apart from the technical/production side are: 1) Identifying who your target market is/are: - Parents who want to congratulate their child for graduating from university? - Children who want to pay tribute to their parents on their birthday or wedding anniversary? - Professionals celebrating the success of a colleague? - among others. 2) Reaching your target market (i.e. how to get to them to see your services and make them realize the need for your video services). Just my $0.02

Don't forget Photoshop skill or any other graphic software... as your project will do much with still photos rather than video footage. Some people already old enough now and want to return to their past where videos were not favorite stuff to kept their life memories (but photos still do and just need to be scanned into digital format). So, don't forget this graphic editing skill. Good luck with your project!

I love this idea! At the moment, Facebook is doing similar things with look back videos detailing a person's most liked photos, for example. People are already receptive to the idea of seeing their own photo stories and their friends' participation in these stories. Those are major selling points for you! Show a client how you can produce something better than what FB does on a timeline. Show them that they have far more options with your service. Show them something they can keep forever. Go for it!
